The Importance of Love

The reason why love is so important is that only through love can we accumulate virtue. Only through virtue can we attain enlightenment, and only through enlightenment can we achieve a better self.

The Definition of Love

Love is blessing.  To love someone means to bless them. To bless someone means that my words or actions change them into a better person.

Socrates

A man went to the Parthenon and asked, "Who is the wisest man in the world?" The temple answered, "Socrates, who lives in Athens, is the wisest man." He met Socrates and asked, "Are you really the Socrates who is said to be the wisest man in the world?" Socrates answered, "I know nothing. If there's one thing I know, it's that I know nothing." He returned to the Parthenon and demanded, "Socrates said he knew nothing. How can he be the wisest man in the world?" The temple replied, "People don't know that they know nothing. But doesn't Socrates know that one thing?"

Fact, Information, Knowledge 2

Knowledge influences thinking and judgment. To prevent wrong choices resulting from faulty knowledge, faulty knowledge must be eliminated. Just as, in order to purify dirty water in a bowl, clean water must be poured into the bowl, correct knowledge must be accepted to eliminate faulty knowledge.

Fact, Information, Knowledge 1

"Facts" exist in the world. Humanity seeks out and shares "information" about facts. And by accepting this information, humanity creates "knowledge."  While facts exist as facts, not all information about facts is correct. Incorrect information creates incorrect knowledge, and incorrect knowledge creates incorrect judgments.

How To Raise The Level Of Truth

The way to raise the level of truth is to attain enlightenment through accumulating merit.

The Importance of Truth(眞實)

All phenomena arise solely from what exists, that is, from truth. Things that do not exist, such as falsehoods or delusions, cannot produce any phenomena.  People must be able to accurately see what exists within themselves and around them. This allows them to see what phenomena will occur to them and whether their hopes stem from what exists or from vain delusions. Those with high desires or ideals—those with a low level of truth—are unable to see what exists, and as a result, they suffer unexpected misfortunes or pursue only the impossible, ruining themselves and society.
