The Importance of Truth(眞實)

All phenomena arise solely from what exists, that is, from truth. Things that do not exist, such as falsehoods or delusions, cannot produce any phenomena.

People must be able to accurately see what exists within themselves and around them. This allows them to see what phenomena will occur to them and whether their hopes stem from what exists or from vain delusions. Those with high desires or ideals—those with a low level of truth—are unable to see what exists, and as a result, they suffer unexpected misfortunes or pursue only the impossible, ruining themselves and society.
